Lunch
Menu

Hot lunch is served every school day. This month's menu is below, and a paper copy goes home with students at the start of each month.

Cost

Prices and how to pay

School lunch prices at St. Francis Solanus School
Item Price
Lunch, full price $3.50
Lunch, reduced price $0.40
Lunch, free No cost
Extra carton of milk $0.40

Lunches are paid in advance through the FACTS Family Portal. Accounts are set up by family rather than by student, so one balance covers everyone. (Families with children in more than one household are the exception; call the office and we'll set that up.)

Free and reduced-price lunches are available to families who meet income guidelines, and you can apply at any point during the school year. You don't have to wait for fall. The school office has the paperwork, and the conversation stays between you and the office.

No child is ever denied lunch at St. Francis.

If an account runs short, your child still eats. Call us and we'll sort it out.

Bringing a lunch from home

Students are welcome to pack a lunch. We can't refrigerate or microwave it, so pack accordingly, and please label lunchboxes with at least a last name on the bottom or inside.

Adding to a school lunch

Students may bring an item or two from home to go alongside a cafeteria lunch, like a piece of fruit or a granola bar.

Water

Cold water with refills is available to any student who asks, every day.

How students choose

We're an "offer versus serve" cafeteria. At least five items are offered, and students in kindergarten through eighth grade take at least three, one of which must be a fruit or vegetable. No child is made to eat anything.

Preschool lunches

National School Lunch Program guidelines require preschool students eating a school lunch to receive a portion of every item on the tray, with unflavored milk. Again, no child is made to eat anything.

Portion sizes

Set by the National School Lunch Program rather than by our school, so we aren't able to adjust them.

Salad bar and second lunches

Available to students in fifth through eighth grade on days when the salad bar is offered. Check the monthly menu for details.
