St. Francis Solanus School Teachers Complete Rigorous Literacy Training Program

Three dedicated St. Francis Solanus School educators – Lesley Failor, Sarah Hull, and Jamie Marshall – have completed the LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) program after two years of study and professional development.

Mrs. Failor teaches First Grade. Mrs. Hull teaches Kindergarten, and Mrs. Marshall teaches Literacy Intervention for First through Fourth Grade. The training, which focuses on the science of reading and evidence-based literacy instruction, requires an average minimum of 160 hours of coursework and study to complete.

Through this intensive program, the teachers strengthened their understanding of how students learn to read. By participating in this extensive professional learning opportunity, Mrs. Failor, Mrs. Hull, and Mrs. Marshall have deepened their knowledge of effective reading instruction and gained practical strategies to better support students in developing strong literacy skills. Their commitment to completing this rigorous program demonstrates a dedication not only to professional growth but also to helping every student become a confident and capable reader.

The impact of their work will benefit students for years to come as they apply this research-based training in their classrooms. The school community is proud to recognize Mrs. Failor, Mrs. Hull, and Mrs. Marshall for their hard work and dedication to improving literacy education.
